There’s no better place to celebrate the anniversary of a shredding icon than the world’s leading wood trade show. And at LIGNA 2015 the WEIMA WL4 single shaft shredder celebrates its 30th birthday.

On WEIMA’s stand the past, present and the future of shredding and briquetting can be witnessed with old favourites such as the, WL4’s predecessor, R300 shredder (1985) and the indestructible TH50 briquette press (1992).

Although the R300 and TH50 show that WEIMA originally painted it’s machines in green, the subsequent colour change was only skin deep, as the large red machines so often seen in wood processing workshops and factories are greener than ever.  Progressive technologies in rotor cutting and material compression yield higher efficiency with lower consumption, optimized and adapted to the demands of industry and the trade.

Besides a potted history, visitors can look forward to the World premiere of the new TH828 briquette press, which boasts extra hard wearing press mechanism, maxi material hopper and an extraordinary process efficiency of up to 500 kg/h, without the need of binding agents.

Other highlights include the adaptable WL1500 single shaft shredder, with its inventive hydraulically operated screen basket and expansive log spacer hopper.  And as variety is the spice of life the latest generation of the WLH Tiger-400 horizontal single shaft shredder will be gracing the stand, flaunting its capabilities with automatic chute loading for long timber waste.

Throughout its history WEIMA have been focused on building innovative shredding and briquetting machines for a wide range of applications, with customers throughout the world in plastic, wood and recycling industries.  Now with a group which has around 170 worldwide employees, sales and service locations in Europe, North and South America and Asia, it’s looking good for the future.

Not everything wears so well 30 years on, remember the electric Sinclair C5 Tricycle?  Judge for yourself and visit us on stand D43, in Hall 11 when we will be happy to show you the WOW (Wonders of WEIMA) factor, or if you can’t make the show we’re just a click away at
