Welcome to the new Fercell Website. The site has been completely redesigned
and improved. The site is much improved from the previous one with development in
navigation, product selection and data downloads, making it very user
friendly.
The changes have produced a site, which covers a far greater range of
Fercell products and services than before. As well as improvements in
the design and navigation there are additional sections covering specific
applications and a newsletter detailing product development and recent
contracts.

Product Update
ATEX regulations and complianceAs from 1st July 2003 the regulations
covering Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR1) with prescriptive
requirements, mandatory by law, apply to areas where explosive atmospheres
may occur. Previous regulations for explosive atmospheres did not cover
the risk of explosion created by dust, simply looking at explosive gases
and vapours. The new regulations address the potential devastating explosions
and fires caused by dust laden atmosphere (including settled dust).
Responsibility
The zone classification is the responsibility of the client (the company
on whose premises machinery is in operation) and also the responsibility
of any company manufacturing machinery that is designed to be used
in risk area.
New Plant
As part of Fercell's responsibility as a manufacturer, the design, manufacture
and supply of new plant for use within (identified) risk areas meets
with the new ATEX regulations. Fercell's products have full certification
and carry correct identifying labelling, including a re-assessed CE
mark conforming to the new regulations.
Existing Plant
The new directives are designed specifically to reduce the danger to
personnel, working within risk areas, therefore considerations should
be given to bringing existing sites/plants up to the new standards.
Fercell can carry out an ATEX audit on existing sites/plants, detailing
levels of compliance and corrective action.
Attention must be paid to the ability of suppliers (of plant covered
by the directive) to provide the correct certification, as the ultimate
responsibility lies with the client and the ATEX issue is an area which
both the Health and Safety Executive and insurers will be considering.
New Product
ST Suction Bench (Free Standing Dust Extraction on a budget)
Fercell's self contained dust extraction benches offer a free-standing,
fully self contained dust and fume extraction system suitable to even
the most modest of budgets.
This latest addition to product range is designed to extract and eliminate
harmful dusts, which can cause skin disorders, rhinitis, asthma and even
nasal cancer.
The benches are made from galvanised sheet steel with a perforated tabletop,
and dust is sucked through the perforations at the top of the bench via
a uniform downward airflow. Once the particle-laden dust has been removed
from the working area it is pulled through the main filter and the heavier
particles fall into the dust collection drawers. The lighter dust is
sucked onto the face of the filter, where compressed air jets keep the
filters working at their optimum level to ensure consistent filter efficiency.
The filtered air is then returned to the work area via secondary filter
panels located at the back of the self-contained unit. |
