Refurbish, Renovate Improve and Recycle - The Smarter Option?

When replacing dust extraction plant, consider the Fercell factory refurbished equipment option. Attractive savings can be made on capital outlay over new, as well as a reduction in lead times not to mention giving your company's 'green credentials' a boost.

    Fercell Refurbished

Celebrating 35 years of service to the woodworking industry, Fercell Engineering Limited is renowned for a modern approach to dust extraction and air filtration systems practising the philosophy behind our "clean air active" logo.

Well known as a single source supply for new complete systems, we at Fercell Engineering also use our extensive manufacturing facilities in Aylesford, Kent to rejuvenate tired, inefficient and uneconomic dust extraction systems, biomass burners, shredders and briquetters.

Whether customer equipment or an item from our refurbished stock, in most cases the refurbished option provides an opportunity for a technology upgrade. This could include; automatic process control valves, frequency inverter speed controls, airflow indicators and more efficient electric motors, fans and filtration media.

All biomass burners are completely dismantled, shot blasted and rebuilt after replacing any deficient parts, then finally re-sprayed. We also hold stocks of new, ex-demonstrator and factory refurbished shredders and briquetters.

So, if you feel a refurbished system saving on capital outlay over new, a reduction on your heating bills and the added bonus of possibly giving your current dust extraction system a new lease of life is worth a call, not to mention giving your company's environmental credentials a boost, then pick up the telephone. Many customers have been known to comment, "I can't believe it's not new"!

Fercell are one of the few waste wood and dust extraction specialists in the UK providing a complete one-stop-shop solution starting with a site survey, where one of our engineers will assess your current system providing recommendations, progress your project through CAD/CAM production, install and finally commission. Delivering a complete single source system solution in an otherwise fragmented market.

Tune into cost savings - dust extraction management goes wireless
    February 2012

Tune in, it's arrived, the very latest in plant communication system control technology for extraction, filtration, ventilation and ducting systems. WIRELESS.

Fercell Engineering Limited, renowned for their canny ability to bring to the UK market innovative new products and systems, has done it again. Wireless is their latest breakthrough as an ongoing effort to attack current control system inefficiencies, force down escalating overheads and shrink the cost of capital expenditure renewals.

Whether embarking on a new filtration turnkey system or attempting to breath new life into a "mature" dust extraction system, Fercell Engineering are well-known for their ability to deliver the best commercially viable solution, every time.

Already proven in mainland Europe, the recent addition of wireless to the Fercell Networx Control Systems stable, offers numerous advantages over existing technologies, including wired control", commented Mark Fletcher, Managing Director. "Installation costs and commissioning time savings alone with wireless technology are so quick". He alleged, "What's more we can now mix control technologies, something already proven with the design of a recent multi floor dust extraction project. Looking ahead, we are convinced wireless will become the norm, as it has in other industries like cold store warehouse picking and retail supermarket isle restocking. Initial interest has been nothing short of exceptional for both retrofitting and turnkey projects".

Adding wireless could not be more uncomplicated. Introduce the initial compact system (the essential elements) and immediately begin profiting from the savings and ongoing benefits of this future proof technology, which by its very design grows with your business, keeping you in control - Plug in - Switch on - Ready.

System expansion components include; Gates, Ducting, Spark Detection and Fire Extinguishing , Filter Cleaning Flow Management and Machine Recognition to name but a few. Add in one or more of the many sensor options to teases out further savings and system efficiencies, adding savings to ensure the ventilation system is monitored, controlled and working to the optimum.

Why not consider wireless to your next project? Plug in - Switch on - Ready. For more details please give our sales team a call on 0845 130 4014.

A smart solution to a pressing problem
    September 2011

Fercell Engineering Limited of Aylesford, Kent announced confirmation of their appointment as sole distributors of the compact universal Uni-baler in UK & Ireland. The official UK Launch will take place during the RWM2011 Exhibition, 13th - 15th September 2011.

With high grade clean waste currently attracting greater profits, contracted-in office waste management companies are considering another solution to co-mingled office site waste collections. In fact a growing number of larger companies now see the opportunity and advantages to baling their own waste at source for better profits. Even the confidential data destruction market has seen the unique advantages of the introduction of the Fercell compact universal Uni-Baler. The Mass catering sector has welcomed the introduction of the Fercell Uni-Baler to reduce end of function waste volume, reduces transportation costs and ease handling of glass bottles, cans, EPS Styrofoam, paper and cardboard.

From 1st April 2011, Landfill Tax increased by a further 17% to £56.00 per tonne and will continue to rise under the Act. Already a number of companies, including supermarket chains have "introduced a zero waste policy", further proof to the pressure placed on recycling market.

The Fercell Uni-Baler has a small footprint, can be rapidly installed and is mobile for decentralised compaction using a multi-cage configuration. The bales can be handled by a single person making this also an attractive option for small and medium sized companies eager to better their green credentials.

    In Summary: Key features:
  • Bale Paper, cardboard, plastics (PET, EPS foam), film, packaging, food waste, Tetrapak©, production skeletal waste. Reduce storage and transportation costs.
  • Decentralised baling - central compactor servicing numerous cages / waste streams
  • 8 Ton press power - better bale compaction, reduced transport cost
  • Full compaction stroke - best possible compaction

A breath of fresh air from Fercell COSHH / LEV Services
    June 2011

    The Legal Bit:

The quality of compressed air to an aspirator is vital in terms of Health and Safety. The British Standard for BS EN12021 defines the maximum contaminant parameters for breathing air and states, "A competent person should test the quality of the air supplied for breathing apparatus at least once every three months. More frequent tests should be conducted if contamination is foreseeable within this three month period". "Thorough testing and examination of LEV plants must be carried out at least every 14 months (in practice annually) or more frequently for certain processes. COSHH puts the responsibility on employers to provide PPE Kit along with training in the correct use of such equipment, to ensure that it is properly maintained and in good working order. The Approved Code of Practise (ACOP) further defines the quality and quantity of air, stating how often system tests should be carried out (BS4275) and the ongoing retention of survey test report data records for at least five years.

It is therefore a legal requirement, stated in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002, that the quality of compressed air supplied to a breathing apparatus should be tested at least every fourteen months.

    The Nice Bit:

With more than 35 years industry experience delivering air control, air extraction and dust and fume filtration products and services, Fercell Engineering could be regarded as specialists in the design, manufacture, supply and installation of turnkey systems. Our engineers hold both P601 (commissioning and through examination and testing of LEV Systems) and hygienist qualifications to ensure a professional COSHH LEV testing and maintenance services, in compliance with current legislation thereby ensuring a safe working environment for employees. Much of our new business comes through referrals. Many come to us disillusioned through what is felt as dubious and aggressive reporting. Sign up for the Fercell "peace of mind service" today with our compliments. Contact us today to discuss your environmental assessment requirement or schedule a reminder call prior to your next test date by calling Carol and our COSHH crew on 0845 130 4014, or use our Enquiry Form.

    Open Week - Extended!
    March 2011

On the back of a most successful Open Week Event, held in Kent at the Fercell/WEIMA UK test facility in 2010, it was mainly the positive customer feedback which told us we should schedule two events in 2011. Due to the unprecedented bookings already for our first event in 2011 we advise that we have extended the event.

Initially it was with some hesitation we elected to communicate our first open week invitation for 2011, hoping there would be sufficient interest, with "austere times" upon UK business sector.

As it happened Tuesday morning we had a pleasant problem! The week was completely booked out and with more requests flooding in what were we to do? After the customarily "huddle meeting" it was decided to extend the Open Week into a second week to now end March 18th.

These events do place additional demands on all the team, as their involvement is in addition to their normal day job! However, we hope you agree it does demonstrate we strive to deliver unequalled customer support - everyday. Your custom is valued, and as it was put, rather bluntly I felt by one of the team, "Without our customers we do not have a business - Simple".

There are a few spaces left toward the end of the second week so if you have an interest to trial your own waste material and take home the resultant recyclate, please be quick to respond. Take a glance at the news article on our website or give the team a call directly. It would be our pleasure to offer you a BIG KENT welcome.

To book your appointment, please contact us on 0845 130 4014.

    2011 Open Week
    February 2011

Our first Open Week event in 2010 met with such positive attendee feedback we intend holding two more this year. To summarise comments; many found the event was extremely informative and in a relaxed setting creating a more than ideal environment to establish a best system solution to go forward.

These events are open to prospective and existing customers alike, providing a fertile platform to discuss one-on-one new business opportunities with our team of engineers and sales people. During the event visitors are welcome to evaluate shredders and briquetters by conducting machine trials using their own materials and are welcome to return home with the results.

The Open Week will include some real surprises, new machinery technology developments and of course, exclusive to the event, very attractive deals and discounts on new and refurbished WEIMA shredder and briquetter machines.

Call our Sales Team to book your visit as soon as possible to ensure a one-to-one discussion and trials. Telephone 0845 130 4014 or fill out our enquiry form.

    Festive Season Business Hours
    December 2010

Both the general office, and test facility will close at 4pm on Wednesday 22nd December 2010, and re-open at 8am on Tuesday, 4th January 2011.

To help you with your annual shutdown planned maintenance program our customer support team offer a friendly reminder to all shut down crews.

The more popular consumable parts (knives, counter knives, oil, filters, ram guides and drive belts) are now at their heaviest demand. Our UK stock levels on the popular products are already getting low. If you are intending to service your Fercell or Weima plant over the festive period and are yet to place an order to the required parts avoid disappointment by giving our Customer Support Team a call on 0845 130 1414.

We wish you all a safe and enjoyable festive break.
