The following case studies are just a few of the many examples of the
solutions Fercell provides to client applications.
Tropical Blinds
 |
When trade suppliers and manufacturers of wood, aluminium and blackout blind/roller
systems, tropical Blinds, production grew to encompass a new facility they
contacted Fercell to discuss relocation of their spray line to the new site.
The new facility was located in a 20,000 square foot agricultural building, which
required complete refurbishment.
After many meetings and assessment of the site
(to gain precise knowledge of the client requirements) Fercell proposed a complete
turnkey spray line consisting of: |
• Twelve 2.7 x 2.3 Sirocco Dryback
Spray Booths (fitted with zoned lighting and energy conservation switches)
• One EM700 heat Exchanger (Natural Gas) connected to heat distribution
duct system, delivering filtered warm air.
• One paint storeroom (fitted with dilution system and fire Dampers).
• Removal and relocation of existing five Fercell Dryback Spray Booths.
Fercell were awarded the contract, based on the level of specification
and the clarity of the proposal. Tropical Blinds were confident of the
quality of Fercells product and also the level of service, due to maintenance
of their existing plant by Fercells service department.
The entire project was completed within the planned schedule and on
budget, enabling Tropical Blinds to relocate their entire spraying facility
of the coarse of a weekend, cutting loss of production to a minimum.
MGS
Pine Products
 |
Fercell Engineering Ltd (Fercell)
has completed the successful upgrade of dust extraction system
for MGS Pine Products Limited (MGS).
MGS produce quality-bespoke kitchens and other pine furniture for sale in both
the UK and North America. Such is their success that three years ago they needed
to extend their factory to the present 23,000 square feet production facility.
The dust extraction upgrade by Fercell id the finishing touch to that expansion.
|
Despite being a Fercell customer since inheriting
one of their dust extraction systems on moving into their original
premises ten years ago, MGS's Proprietor, Mark Smith, decided to shop
around before deciding on a dust extraction supplier.
Mark Smith said: "MGS is proud
of the quality of its products. With Far Eastern production lines as
our main competitors, we understand that buying on price alone is generally
not a good idea. We looked at a number of dust extraction companies
but we decided to stick with Fercell, basing our decision on our whole
way of doing business - quality not price."
The system installed is a bulk handling screw filter unit model FEL/4SC/D/EXR and JK
series indirect belt-drive paddle blade fan set with an air volume
of 30,000 cubic metres (operated by a fail-safe master control panel).
But it wasn't just the quality of the equipment that persuaded MGS
to stick with Fercell.
"As a small business
we just couldn't chance getting this installation wrong. Fercell's
representative had an obvious and clear understanding of our industry's
requirements, and he made a few suggestions nobody else had thought
of. The confidence this instilled provided to be well founded when
the job was installed on time and to cost, despite snow and frost!"
MGS need to optimise space as well as improved dust extraction. Their
old system relied on bagging emptying filters sited inside the production
facility, so Fercell offered to trade them in for a set up which has
everything on the outside of the factory. This eliminated the dust created
when changing bags on the old system, giving MGS more room and a much
quieter production area. Riverside Displays
 |
Exhibition and shop Fitting manufacturers, Riverside
Displays, needed to upgrade their dilapidated dust extraction
system, being located beside a children's nursery made quietness
of operation a major consideration.
Before setting on Fercell to handle the installation for them, Company Director
Stephen Haddrell approached several dust extraction companies about the contract.
The remit of the contract was quick installation and quiet final operation because
their old equipment was worryingly close to breaching Health and Safety regulations. |
"We've built a successful business
on our reputation for quality, and that includes all aspects of our
operations" says Stephen Haddrell. "We
take our duties to our employees and our young neighbours as seriously
as we do our duties to our customers, so whoever was chosen to carry
out the dust extraction upgrade had to be able to complete the job
quickly, with the most appropriate equipment, and still remain within
budget."
Fercell managed to do just that - within ten days of Riverside's first
call to Fercell, not only had a bespoke design been prepared but also
the entire installation had been completed and was operational.
The equipment installed is a Fercell FEL/2BG/S/EXR bag emptying filter,
utilising regeneration cleaning fans. The main transport is an MVS/HR25 18.5kw fan set.
Fercell's Managing Director, Malcolm Fletcher, said "Rising
to this sort of challenge is what Fercell does best. Because we are
manufacturers, we are able to react quickly to the most unusual of
requirements."
Ardmore Construction
 |
Fercell completed another brand-new bespoke
spray and dust extraction installation at the Enfield headquarters of Ardmore
Construction Limited ("Ardmore").
The Ardmore Group operates throughout the UK and Ireland with regional offices
in East London, Docklands, Heathrow, Birmingham, Newport, Glasgow and Dublin.
The group prides itself on its ability to undertake a diverse range of products
and keep the entire job in-house, so when they were looking for a new dust system
they wanted a company who would match their exacting service provision levels.
Dennis O'Sullivan, Joinery Foreman at Ardmore in Enfield, said |
"A
dust and spray extraction system is quite an unusual purchase, so I
started looking for an appropriate supplier by asking for any in-house
recommendations. We had used Fercell at various different sites so
they were one of the companies I contacted early on."
Due to the size of the job, the equipment had to be fitted in stages
starting with the 3.3m x 2.2m Sirocco Dryback Spray Plant and ending
with FEL/3RV/D/ER and MVS series fan set with an air volume of 16,000
cubic metres (operated by a fail-safe master control panel). In the meantime,
Fercell supplied and installed a temporary solution.
Dennis O'Sullivan said
"Ardmore's
ethos is to fully understand the client's requirements, then safely
deliver the project to budget, on programme and within quality constraints.
Fercell appears to follow the same philosophy because they did exactly
what they said they would do, when they said they would do it and at
the price they quoted us - who can ask for more?"
Malcolm Fletcher, Fercell's founder and Managing Director said:
"There
are great similarities between the way Ardmore approach their business
and the way we do at Fercell. Like them, we do as much as we can in-house
- from design and manufacture of the equipment to installation and
post sales service and maintenance. Over the last 30 years we have
found this approach allows us to retain control of the project and
ensure we deliver what the customer wants, when they want it, and at
an agreed price." |
